Guard door monitors and Safety control modules for Emergency Stop applications Schmersal

Application:
AES and SRB range safety monitoring modules serve for the secure evalution of switching signals. The signals can emanate from mechnical position switches, safety switches, solenoid interlocks or magnetic safety sensors on sliding, hinged or removable guard doors.

Depending on the external circuit arrangements, the protection system can be secured up to Control Category 4 to EN ISO 13849-1.

Further examples of applications and circuit diagrams are shown in the Schmersal Application and Wiring Handbooks.

Design and mode of operation:
SRB range guard door monitors operate using conventional relay technology. The modules are designed with redundant internal circuits. They are mounted with up to five safety relays with monitored positive-guided contacts. The NO relay contacts are wired in series to from the enabling paths.

AES range guard door monitors are also designed with redunant internal circuits. The units for Control Category 1 to EN ISO 13849-1 are built using conventional relay technology.

All guard door monitors which fulfil the Control Category 3 to EN ISO 13849-1 are equipped with two microprocessors with diverse programming.

The enabling path comprises the NO contacts of the two positive-guided relays wired in series. These guard door monitors are equipped with integral system diagnostics (ISD). The multi-function LEDs provide the user with information on the switching condition of the guard-door monitor and control gear connected.

In addition, faults arising in practice are recognised and indicated via the ISD. This saves the user time and cost in trouble-shooting.

The additional short-circut proof transistor outputs or relay contacts can be utilised for indication, control or visual display purposes.
