The IM 463-2 interface module is intended for use as a send IM for the distributed connection of SIMATIC S5 expansion racks over remote distances up to 600 m. The interface module is only intended for use with the IM 314 interface module.

Дизайн

The IM 463-2 interface module can be inserted into the following central controllers:

• UR1,
• UR2 and
• CR2.

Up to 8 S5 expansion units can be connected (4 per line). Further EUs can be connected centrally to the distributed expansion units.

Up to 4 IM 463-2 modules can be deployed in one SIMATIC S7-400 central controller. This allows up to 32 SIMATIC S5 expansion racks to be connected.

The module has:

• 3 LEDs for indicating faults.
• 2 interfaces for connecting the expansion units via connecting cable 721.
• Interface selector switch for selecting the required interfaces.
• Cable length selector to set the used cable lengths.
