CP 1243-8 IRC Siemens

Область применения

By using the new CP 1243-8 IRC, the SIMATIC S7-1200 can be used as a remote terminal unit (substation) in ST7 telecontrol applications. Typical applications are found in the areas of water/wastewater, oil and gas, and also in other areas of telecontrol technology such as railway control systems, wind farms, and traffic control systems. The CP 1243-8 IRC can be integrated into existing ST7 systems here, as well as being used in new systems with ST7.

Typical fields of application are:

  • Safe supply of drinking water, gas, district heating, or electricity for private and industrial consumers via branched networks
  • Economical transportation of gas, oil or oil products through pipelines
  • Remote monitoring of unit-type district heating power plants, wind farms, and solar power plants
  • Monitoring and control of wastewater systems such as sewerage systems, storm-water overflow tanks, and treatment plants
  • Flood water protection and level monitoring
  • Control of traffic systems and telecommunication systems
  • Remote monitoring of levels in tanks and silos
  • Control of irrigation systems in agriculture or hothouses

Обзор

The CP 1243-8 IRC communication processor (Industrial Remote Communication) is used for connecting a SIMATIC S7-1200 in the TeleControl Professional system via the SINAUT ST7 telecontrol protocol to higher-level ST7 stations or to an ST7 control center.

The CP has the following features:

  • SINAUT ST7 telecontrol protocol supported
  • Two WAN connections for selecting the communication paths:
    • Ethernet-based connection: RJ45 port on the module for connecting external routers, e.g. SCALANCE M
    • Additional connection configurable via plug-in TS modules
  • Both WAN interfaces can also be operated simultaneously: Route redundancy
  • Data transfer optimized for telecontrol systems on the basis of SINAUT ST7
  • Automatic transmission of alarms per e-mail or SMS
  • Time synchronization based on NTP (Network Time Protocol) or via the SINAUT system
  • Data buffering of up to 16,000 data messages prevents data loss in the event of temporary connection failures
  • Secure communication via VPN connections based on IPSec
  • Access protection via Stateful Inspection Firewall
  • Fast and simple diagnostics via clear LED indicators, STEP 7 and web browser
  • Compact industrial enclosure in S7-1200 design for mounting on a standard mounting rail

The integrated Ethernet interface and the option of using the TS modules provide flexible connection options for the CP. The following TS modules are available:

  • TS module RS232
  • TS module MODEM
  • TS module ISDN and
  • TS module GSM.

Дизайн

The CP 1243-8 IRC offers all the advantages of the S7-1200 design:

  • Rugged, compact plastic enclosure
  • Easily accessible connection and diagnostics elements, protected by front flaps
  • Removable terminals
  • Simple mounting on the mounting rail of the S7-1200
  • 3-pin plug-in terminal strip for connection of the 24 V DC external supply voltage
  • Permissible slots:
+ A single CP 1243-8 IRC can be plugged in to the left of the S7-1200-CPU
+ A single TS module can be plugged in to the left of the CP 1243-8 IRC

If a TS module is plugged in, the power is supplied via a 3-pin terminal strip on top of the module. Any required modems or routers are connected via the Ethernet interface on the underside of the module.

Функции

The CP 1243-8 IRC is a communication module for the SIMATIC S7-1200. The module makes it possible to connect the S7-1200 as an external station to the higher-level station (node and master) or to a control system via the SINAUT ST7 telecontrol protocol.

Configuration

The hardware and data are configured in STEP 7 V13 SP1 plus HSP011 (TIA Portal), and the ST7 connection is configured with STEP7 V5.5 plus SINAUT Engineering Software V5.5. The introduction of the "data point configuration" in STEP 7 dispenses with the programming effort for transfer of data to the control center. The data of the CPU relevant to the control center is selected via user-friendly "item browsing" in STEP 7. In a clearly-arranged menu, the data transfer parameters are then assigned to the data points selected in this way. The cyclic or event-controller transfer of measurements, setpoints or alarms can thus be implemented in only a few operations and without programming effort.

Web server access

Access to the Web server of the CPU via the Ethernet interface of the CP for easy diagnostics.

Security

Virtual Private Network (IPSec)
The connection of S7-1200 via a VPN network ensures that only authenticated network stations can communicate with the controller. Secure encryption of the data and verification of the data integrity protects the data traffic from espionage and manipulation.

Stateful Inspection Firewall

By using a firewall, the S7-1200 can provide additional protection against unauthorized access and manipulation attempts. The firewall filters data packets and checks the communication connections in accordance with the filter list. Both incoming and outgoing communication is filtered on the basis of IP and MAC addresses.

Alerting per e-mail or SMS

Alarm e-mails and alarm SMS messages can be configured to provide the service and maintenance personnel promptly with the station states. If previously defined events (such as threshold violation) should occur, application-specific information is sent automatically by e-mail and SMS.

Data backup

Data losses are prevented by the data buffering mechanisms integrated in the device. In the event of a connection failure, up to 16,000 time-stamped data messages are buffered. When the connection returns, the buffered values are automatically transferred to the control center in the right order.

Diagnostics

The CP 1243-8 IRC offers comprehensive diagnostic options for a quick and informative analysis of the station status. Elementary diagnostic information about the connection to the control center is signaled directly via LEDs at the CP. Further extensive information can be called up via STEP 7 and the web server.

Remote maintenance

For remote access from the control center to the substation, the CP provides a remote maintenance port in parallel with process operation. This ensures access for monitoring and program changes.

Особенности

  • Use of the SIMATIC S7-1200 as a low-cost, modular RTU with SINAUT ST7 telecontrol protocol in new systems
  • Investment protection through use in existing ST7 systems
  • Flexible options for connecting to IP-based networks or classic WAN networks
  • Selection of the WAN network type via TS modules that are plugged in to the left of the CP
  • High availability of the connections due to possible redundant design of the communication paths (parallel operation of Ethernet and the second WAN interface via TS modules)
  • Fully automatic time stamp: To enable subsequent and correct archiving of process data in the control system, all data frames are assigned a time stamp at their place of origin.
  • Alarms: Operating personnel informed immediately of alarms, statuses and values from the process via e-mail or SMS.
  • Simple and economical engineering: Cyclic or event-controlled transfer of measurements, setpoints or alarms can thus be implemented in only a few operations and without programming effort.
  • Remote diagnostics: Saving of traveling and maintenance costs due to economical remote maintenance, diagnostics, control and monitoring via the Internet
  • Industrial Security: Protection against data manipulation and third-party access through IT security functions such as firewall (Stateful Inspection) and secure connections (VPN with IPSec).
